This way i could adjust everything the way my target audience want it. Asking questions such as Age and gender helps me find out what gender or age group to aim my magazine at where as questions such the genre and colour helps me when designing it.

Music magazine audience research results

What gender are you ?
As the majority of people I asked the gender of were male, I will mostly be aiming my magazine at males. Although the majority answered male, there were also some female readers, meaning I will have to add elements to the magazine, which are also for females.

What is your age ?

The majority of my readers are between the age of 18 and 19, I will therefore be aiming my magazine at the older teenage generation.

What colour scheme would you like on this magazine?

As most people I asked about colour scheme chose blue and white, Blue and white will be the main colours to my magazine.

What would you prefer on the front cover?

As most of the audience would prefer to have the front cover of the magazine filled with mostly image, the only text i will have will be sub-headings and i will fill the front cover with a relevant image to go with the inside of the magazine.

What genre of music would you want this magazine to be?

Evidentially the most popular genre for my magazine is grime and therefore i will be creating a grime music magazine.

How much would you pay for this magazine?

I will be setting the price of my magazine in the range of £1.00 - £1.99. This ensures the magazines not to cheap and not to expensive, meaning people will buy it. The majority of people i asked also opted for this option.

How often would you like this magazine to be published?

As the majority of people i asked would like to have the magazine out fortnightly thats how it will be. The magazine will contain news and gossip of past events in the last two weeks.

This is a questionnaire i have designed to help me find out about my target audience and what they want. I will also find out form this questionnaire how the students want their college magazine.

College Magazine audience research results

The majority of the people i asked wanted here college magazine green. I will therefore be doing it green.

What non college news would you like in this magazine?

As well as college news i also decided to include information about a non- college news topic. The majority of the people i asked chose TV or technology. As the two topics are similar i could include articles about both TV and technology.

What would you like this magazine to be called?

Although a lot of people chose to have the college magazine called 'well smart,' i don't know if i will use this name.

On the front cover what would you prefer?

Most people chose to have a big title on the page. I will therefor give the title a lot of room at the top of the page.

Although the majority of people i asked were male, i will not only be aiming my magazine at males as it is a college magazine which will be aimed to sell to male and females. This therefore means i will have to include elements attracting to both male and female students. .

As most people chose to have Up and Coming events, i will include a calendar page marking out events which are due. A lot of the students also chose to have gossip as part of the magazine meaning i could include a 'gossip column.'

The majority of people i asked were in-between the age of 16-18. This age group will therefore be my target audience age group so i will be aiming everything for students between the age of 16 and 18.

Magazine Research

The Colour scheme for the front cover of this magazine it yellow and blue with some elements of black and white. The main thing that stands out is the picture on the front which takes up the whole page. The sub headings are all placed  around the photograph in blue and black where as the main sub heading is in yellow and black which is bright and eye catching so it stands out more. The key words on the magazine  have a blue block in the background. This is so they stand out more over other text.  The title of the magazine is spread across the top of the magazine in a big bold font.

The colour theme of this magazine is red, green, black and white. The photograph in the background takes up the whole page with text placed around it. The thing that stands out most is the bold red top the subject is wearing to match the text. The title is big and bold. It is also behind the photograph but still legible even though some of the word is covered up.

The colour scheme for his magazine is red, aqua, white and black. The photograph of the artist takes up the whole page and even overlaps the title of the magazine, yet the title is still legible. The main headings are red and the subheadings are black. The writing is also big and bold which makes the magazine stand out. The headings and sub headings are all positioned around the artist in the photograph.

The colour scheme of this magazine is quite neutral, using the colours brown, yellow, white and black. All of the sub headings are on the left hand side in a white font yet some are bigger and bolder than others. There is also a yellow bar in-between the main headings to separate them, which matches to the colour of the title. Some of the title of the magazine is cut off yet it is still legible. the title is centrally aligned which is unusual in comparison to other magazines as titles are usually left aligned

The colour scheme for this contents page is black and white. There is three columns of text telling the reader what is in the magazine. The main titles are big and bold and stand out well compared to the normal righting. There is one big main picture of a music event at the bottom and a little picture at the top of the page of the writer. There is also a title next to the big picture which is vertical up the page.

Most of this contents page is made up of an image of a famous music artist. All of the writing is on the right hand side of the page. The colours are very dull - grey, blue and black. The title of the page is very big and bold and the one word is split into three rows. This makes the title stand out allot in comparison to the other features on the page. There is two sub headings which are in a more swirly font to the other fonts on the page

This contents page is very similar to the last. The colours are very dull, the contents title is split into three words, the page is mostly filled with image and there is two main sub headings on the right hand side of the page with righting underneath.

This double page spread is mostly taken up with image and only has one column of writing. The colour scheme is black white and gold which makes the page look very clean and crisp. All of the writing on the page is black apart from the title which is gold, and stands out very clearly. The bands photograph, which takes up most of the page, is quite transparent in the background with writing of the top of some of the image

The colour them of this double page spread is quite dull. One page is made up of image and the next page is white paper and black writing. The page made up of image has a little bit of writing in the top right hand corner, right aligned. The page with writing on has a 3 column grid system and therefore has three columns of text, and interview carried out by the artist.

This double page spread has a three column grid system on each page. There is two full columns of text and then the next four columns is mostly taken up with an image of the artists. There are two little sub headings, on spreading across two columns and the other in one column. The image is black and white which matched with the black text and white paper.

On the cover of this magazine the main thing that stands out is the image of the girl on the front. This may be  The other big eye catching thing is the title which is a big and bold in a bright colour which matches the girls top. The sub headings are black and navy blue and are placed around the girl in the photograph. They don't all have the same font, they are written in different font size and are in a mixture of uppercase and lower case letters. There is also a barcode in the bottom right hand corner with the price '100% free' at the side of the barcode in a navy blue block matching the sub headings colour.

This magazine cover is quite different to the last. it is similar in the way that the imagine takes up most of the cover and has a big, bold, bright title. The barcode is also in the bottom right hand corner. The difference is there is only one sub-heading and it is also big, bold and bright like the title. The sub-heading is also made up of questions other than statements. i think the colour scheme of this magazine cover is white, purple and yellow as it may be the teams playing colours considering it is a college sport magazine.

This is quite a standard magazine cover. there dosn't seem to be a certain structure or grid system to it. everything seems to be placed everywhere. There is an image which takes up most of the page. the title of the magazine dosn't stand out to much, even though the writing is bold, the font colour is dark which just blends in with the background and the font size dosn't see, to be big enough. The sub-headings are all white and black and have the same font. there are also other photographs on the cover which seem to be taken of the college itself, people in the college and college events.

this is quite an interesting contents page. the colourful pattern on the left hand side of the first page is repeated on the right hand page. this makes the page look quite symmetrical. There is two contents titles in a white font in a black box. There is also five other headings of sections of the magazines. there is writing next to the page numbers aswell as some images. i think the images may be there too show you what age the main headlines are on as there more eye catching than a list of writing. the contents page is quite colourful and bright, this makes it very eye catching.

This contents page is layed out on a double page spread yet the left hand page is made up of image. The contents title is quite eye catching as it takes up half of the page. it is very different because the title is on the bottom of the page rather than at the top. Most of the page is taken up from image likewise is the left hand side page. The sub- headings are in a bolder font to the text next to the page numbers. The font is quite standard yet the contents page is very eye catching due to the bright colours. there is also a colour block on the right hand side of the page which contains the page number and of letter of the title.

This contents page is quite different as it is not laid out on a double page spread it is just a single page. The colour theme is pink and green and the page it selfs looks quite 'girly' due to the colour theme and the little love hearts next to the text implying the magazine may be made for girls. All of the subheadings are in colour blocks making them stand out to the rest of the text on the page. There is images as well as text with quotations next to them. As well as simple text, images and quotations there is also bubbles with writing in. The page is quite busy and there is not alot of space on it. There is no obvious grid system or layout.

This is the inside of a college magazine. On the left hand side of the double page spread the page is taken up by mostly photograph apart from the two blue boxes containing text. The title of the page in on the left hand side with text underneath it in two columns. The page seems to have a four page grid system as there is another two columns of text on the left age. there is also a number of images within the text. the colour theme for this page seems to be mostly blue, black and white.

the colour them of this magazine seems to be black, white and yellow. there are three columns of text and some images. most of the images are free standing and do not have a background. The inside of this magazine is set across a double page spread. the thing that stand out on the page is the bright, colourful title. It is at a slant on the age and has a sub-heading underneath also at a slant, which is quite different to other magazines. The yellow block at the bottom of the page contains the double page spreads page numbers.

This inside of this magazine is not from a college magazine, but from a popular published magazine to buy in shops. The page is very bright and eye catching because of the background which is bright pink. The main titles are in black and the subheading are yellow, therefore look very effective and stand out on top of this coloured background. The left hand side of the double page spread is mostly made up of pictures with limited text and the right hand side is made up of three columns of text with smaller pictures. There are also some green coloured blocks with black text in which are very eye catching.
